Improving Irrigation Efficiency Project

The Improving Irrigation Efficiency Project is a joint initiative of the Riverine Local Action Planning Committees, River Murray Catchment Water Management Board, Central Irrigation Trust and Renmark Irrigation Trust.

The Improving Irrigation Efficiency Project is committed to addressing the issues associated with irrigation practices within the region. This includes assisting irrigators to improve their practices, to enable them to meet the 85% water use efficiency requirments of the Water Allocation Plan. This will also assist in reducing the impacts of irrigation on the environment.

Courses

To assist growers improve their irrigation practices and achieve on-farm efficiency, the Improving Irrigation Efficiency Project provides a series of FREE irrigation management courses each year. These are

Irrigation Management 2 day Workshop
Pump Efficiency
Scheduling
Drip Irrigation

Do not be concerned about the content of the courses, as they are mostly practical and no examination is required. Your personal experiences as an irrigator are welcome, and help is always available if the need arises.
Sometimes you may also learn more from discussions during the coffee breaks talking with other growers.

Each participant receives a explanatory manual and also obtains a 'Certificate of Attendance' after fully completing any of the courses.

If the need arises for further assistance, your local Field Officer employed jointly by the LAP Associations, the River Murray Catchment Water Management Board, and Central Irrigation Trust will be more than happy to assist you. This is a free service offered to those irrigators who attend any of the courses. For futher information on the project, please contact one of the Field Officers based at either CIT, RIT or the River Murray Catchment Water Management Board. They will be more than happy to assist you.
