Role
of the Committee
Responsibilities and
initiatives of the committee include:
- Identifying and
prioritising local environmental issues
- Informing the community
of the findings and developing a set of solutions through, community
consultation
- Applying for and
managing investment funds to develop, administer and implement the Plan
- Monitoring and
evaluating the Local Action Plan.
The Loxton to Bookpurnong
LAP provides an opportunity for all residents in the local region to be
involved by either assisting in developing local policy, undertaking on
ground actions or developing education material. Whatever avenue you choose,
you will be implementing your Local Action Plan and therefore working
alongside other local community groups and individuals to help achieve
the objectives of the Plan.
The
Loxton to Bookpurnong Local Action Planning Committee is always looking
for new members. If you are interested in helping the environment and
working with your local community, and wish to be involved, contact Paul

Vision of the Committee
The
Objectives of the Committee
1.
IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE
Ensure long-term sustainable irrigation management along the River Murray.
2.
FLOODPLAINS & WETLANDS.
Ensure wetlands and floodplains are largely natural in character and
support a healthy diversity of native plant and animal species.
3.
WATER QUALITY
Improve water quality so that it can satisfy current and future water
supply demands and be compatible with ecological, recreation and resource
sustainability values.
4.
HABITAT & BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION
Protect and expand native vegetation sites to ensure ongoing species
diversity and natural habitats.
5.
PLANNING & REPORTING
Ensure all relevant stakeholders have been consulted. Monitor and evaluate
the progress of the Local Action Plan and integrate with other planning
initiatives
